Angus Deayton has been axed from Bake Off spin-off with former Great British Bake Off contestant Liam Charles replacing him
ANGUS DEAYTON’s goose is well and truly cooked when it comes to Bake Off: Creme De La Creme.
He has been quietly dropped as host of The Great British Bake Off’s spin-off show, in which professional chefs compete to create masterpieces.
The former BBC2 show was poached by Channel 4 last year and bosses decided Angus was not the right fit.
He has been replaced with two co-hosts — former GBBO contestant LIAM CHARLES and stand-up comedian TOM ALLEN — while the show itself has been renamed Bake Off: The Professionals.
Top pastry chefs CHERISH FINDEN and BENOIT BLIN will remain as the judges.
A source said: “It was always a bit of a strange pairing anyway.
“Angus openly admits he’s not a cook and looked like a fish out of water throughout his time on the show.
“Channel 4 decided he was the wrong person for the job so looked elsewhere.
“Liam knows his way around the Bake Off tent and they hope Tom will bring good humour.”
Angus has form for being binned by cookery shows.
“He was axed from ITV’s Hell’s Kitchen in 2009 following a string of bust-ups with chef MARCO PIERRE WHITE.
Bake Off: The Professionals will be on our screens later this year.
First up in the famous white tent are the stars competing in The Great Celebrity Bake Off fundraiser for Stand Up To Cancer, which is on next month.

Craig is for team Olly
OLLY MURS has recruited close pal CRAIG DAVID to give him a hand with The Voice’s crucial knockout stage this weekend.
CRAIG said: “Olly is really passionate about everyone on his team and it’s going to be a hard decision for him to choose who to put through.
“I know Olly so I can be honest with him. Hopefully my opinions will help him make his decision but, ultimately, this is his gig.” Meanwhile, rival coach WILL.I.AM is joined by fellow BLACK EYED PEAS members APL.DE.AP and TABOO to help.
It comes after I revealed KYLIE MINOGUE will make a comeback on the show for the mentoring stage – four years after taking part in an entire series.
It’s just a shame Kylie won’t get to sit in one of those big red chairs and do what she does best – some spinning around.

A HEADS-UP for I’m A Celeb bosses – ROMAN KEMP is keen to sign up.
The telly presenter, whose dad is MARTIN KEMP, said: “I’d love to do I’m A Celeb but not Big Brother. My dad did well but he sat on his a**e for 25 days.”
Mark's unusual haunt
REALITY TV worlds collide as Made in Chelsea’s MARK-FRANCIS VANDELLI and former Towie favourite LYDIA BRIGHT have signed up for Celebrity Haunted Mansion later this month.
The pair are both terrified of ghosts, so their appearance on the scare-fest W show, fronted by MATT RICHARDSON and CHRISTINE LAMPARD should be fun.
Along with KATIE PRICE and Corrie’s SIMON GREGSON, they will go ghost-hunting while camping overnight in a creepy, old mansion.
A show source said: “Lydia is terrified of the supernatural and was apprehensive about signing up because she struggles to sleep in the dark.
“Mark is the same, but thought it was a chance to tackle his demons. Both have stories of their experiences with the paranormal.”
I’m not sure what Mark will find more scary – being in a haunted house or straying out of his posh postcode.
