Coronation Street’s Martin Platt returns with a new girlfriend and baby on the way as son David struggles to cope after he is raped
Martin will return to help support his son after he is raped by mechanic Josh Tucker
MARTIN Platt is returning to Coronation Street - and he won't be alone.
The Sun Online can exclusively reveal that when Martin makes his Weatherfield comeback to support his son David after his traumatic sexual assault, he will return with his girlfriend Robyn who is pregnant with their child.
A source said: "Martin was always a womaniser and that didn't stop when he left Weatherfield all those years ago.
"He's moved on from everything that happened on the Street and built a new life for himself and that includes a new family.
"There will be a new Platt on the way but David's not going to be too pleased about the thought of having a little brother or sister."
The news will dash fan hopes of a Gail and Martin reunion when actor Sean Wilson returns to soap screens for the first time since 2005.
Martin's return, which The Sun revealed last month, comes as he tries to support his son after he is drugged and raped by mechanic Josh Tucker.
It was previously revealed how hairdresser David - who is played by actor Jack P. Shepherd in the ITV soap - will be left devastated after he is drugged and assaulted in the hard-hitting storyline.
Viewers have seen David grow closer to Josh as he begins to train some of the street's residents for a charity boxing match in memory of murderer Luke Britton.
He will be seen enjoying a drunken night out with the mechanic before he is drugged and assaulted.
Viewers will be spared any explicit scenes and instead the story will show David wake up in Josh's bed and realise the horror of what happened to him.
The story will focus on how David copes with the assault and his guilt and shame over it.
