When is Solo: A Star Wars Story released in the UK?

Solo: A Star Wars Story is in UK cinemas NOW (May 24, 2018).

It's a Star Wars spin-off film that focuses on Han Solo's early life.

The film has been produced by Lucasfilm from a screenplay by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is directed by Ron Howard and is the second Star Wars anthology film, following the 2016 film Rogue One.

The plot: During an adventure into a dark criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion.

The following stars appear in the film:

• Alden Ehrenreich takes on the role of cynical smuggler Han Solo
• Donald Glover plays Lando Calrissian, a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy's underworld
• Woody Harrelson is Beckett, a criminal and Han's mentor
• Joonas Suotamo is Chewbacca
• Emilia Clarke as Qi'ra

Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge also star in the film.

Actor Michael K. Williams had originally been cast, but he was cut from the final film after being unable to return to set during the film's re-shoots. He was replaced by Paul Bettany.

Warwick Davis and Jon Favreau have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
