ANTONY Cotton’s Dancing On Ice partner revealed she thought she’d killed him when a lift went horribly wrong.
The Coronation Street star broke two ribs after crashing to the ice with Brandee Malto, leaving her terrified it would have deadly consequences.
She told Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes on This Morning: “I was so scared, I really thought I’d killed him because he couldn’t breathe, as he was just lying in the ice.
“He was telling me to get help but I didn’t want to leave him.”
Recalling the moment, Antony, 42, said he was desperate not to hit his head.
He said: “It happened very quickly and I knew that we were going down.
“Obviously I didn’t want to bang my head as I thought, ‘We’re gonna go down with some force here,’ so I kind of cradled round Brandee so my head was up, so I went bang on my back and Brandee landed on top of me, so my ribs crushed at the back and then at the front.”
The next few moments were a nightmare for the two as they were on a deserted ice rink with no one around to help, and Antony struggling to breathe.
He continued: “The worst part was I couldn’t breathe, I physically couldn’t breathe, so because there was nobody else around, I was snatching breathes I was doing it audibly so I thought if I stop breathing they’ll notice that I wasn’t making any sound anymore.
“I just said Brandee go and get help.”
The pair revealed that eventually help made its way onto the ice and that the actor is still going to continue in the competition, despite his pain.
He insisted: “At the end of the day, I’m in horrendous pain, but Brandee’s come all the way from California so we’re not going without a fight.”
