When is Celebrity 5 Go Barging on Channel 5 tonight, who are the stars involved and which canals are they boating on?

CELEBRITIES are tasked with dozens of things in the name of reality TV, and now five people are taking to the water for a barge-based extravaganza.

What happens on Celebrity 5 Go Barging?

On Celebrity 5 Go Barging, a team of celebs are sailing through France and learning how to live life on board a narrowboat together.

Not only do they need to learn to live in cramped conditions, with relative strangers, but they’ll also be responsible for navigating and not sinking the boats!

Having traded their usual comfortable lives and families, for a cabin and shipmates, they set off up the river in search of adventure, friendship and good times.

In this jovial jaunt through some of France’s most stunning scenery, the tranquility of the river and cosy living conditions bring the company of celebrity strangers together.

Who is appearing on the show?

Tom Conti

Tom Conti is an English actor, theatre director and novelist.

He is most known for his role in Shirley Valentine, but has also appeared in films including The Tempest, The Dark Knight Rises, and Paddington 2.

The 76-year-old was also nominated for an Oscar for his part in the 1983 film, Reuben, Reuben.

Diarmuid Gavin

Diarmuid Gavin is an Irish mercurial gardener and TV personality.

The 53-year-old has appeared on TV faves including Gardens Through Time and Blood of the Irish.

He has also released a series of DIY books including Outer Spaces and Design Your Garden.

As well as Celebrity 5 Go Barging, he has appeared on Come Dine With Me, Splash! and The Chase Celebrity Special.

Tessa Sanderson

Tessa Sanderson is a six-time Olympian in the javelin for Great Britain.

The 61-year-old star is originally from Jamaica.

She is married to former Olympic athlete Densign White, who specialised in Judo.

Tony Christie

Singer Tony Christie is most famed for his classic pop tune, Is This The Way to Amarillo?

The 74-year-old has been releasing music since 1972 - so has been in the industry an impressive 45 years.

Over the past eight years he has made several appearances on the pantomime circuit.

Penny Smith

Penny Smith is a 59-year-old presenter most known for her anchor position on GMTV.

She has worked on both radio and television, having hosted shows on Sky News, Classic FM and BBC Radio London.

Currently she leads the breakfast show on Saturdays for Talk Radio.

What rivers are they going barging on?

The team will board their two boats on the River Lot in South West France.

They will then be narrow boating along two of France’s best-loved waterways, the gorgeous River Lot and the famous Canal Du Midi.

Among their destinations and stopping points will the beautiful and ancient city of Cahors.

When is Celebrity 5 Go Barging on?

Celebrity 5 Go Barging ends tonight, Friday, February 16 at 8pm on Channel 5.

It goes up against the Six Nations on BBC One, Mastermind on BBC Two, Love Your Garden on ITV and Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast on Channel 4.

The series has run for four episodes in this time slot, airing weekly.
