JAMELIA revealed today the terrifying moment she almost lost her baby after her waters broke at 23 weeks.

The singer, 37, welcomed her third child - who she revealed today is a daughter, in December and describes her as a “miracle” after she almost miscarried just over halfway through her pregnancy.

Describing what happened to Lorraine Kelly, Jamelia said: “Being the mother of two older daughters and having that happen, I didn’t for a second think that meant your pregnancy could continue, that you could still carry the baby, I was astonished.

“When your waters break you could go into labour within the hour and that’s how I was treated, they told me that the baby could come any day now, so I was given steroids, I’ve been repeatedly hospitalised, there are so many problems that come along with that happening.”

She continued: “I was on constant monitoring at the hospital and every time they were like, ‘You’re really lucky if you get to tomorrow.’ It was literally one day at a time, I was on 100% bed rest.

“They keep calling my daughter a miracle baby, and she really, really is.”

And while the pregnancy was filled with drama, the Brummie star revealed labour was “like an episode of Fawlty Towers” after it started during a huge snow storm.

She said: “When I was telling my friends, they were like ‘This could only happen to you.’

“I went into labour that weekend that we had the awful snow, was husband was away for work and my eldest daughter had three of her friends over. It was like an episode of Fawlty Towers!

“Their parents couldn’t pick them up, the ambulance couldn’t get to the house, we ended up having to walk in the snow to the train station, honestly you couldn’t make it up!

“So I walked with my two daughters and my eldest daughter’s three friends and I was in labour. But by that point you just remain positive and make a joke out of it!”

And Jamelia says it’s that positive attitude that helped her make sure she and her baby completed the pregnancy.

“When my waters first broke they said to me, ‘Unfortunately you’re going to have to prepare for the worst, this baby is coming and there is nothing we can do about it.’

“And the next morning I saw a consultant and he said, ‘Look remain positive, surround yourself with positivity, concentrate on good things, act as if you’re going to have the baby, not as if you’re going to lose the baby.

“And I believe that’s what worked.”

She added: “I came off Twitter and I told everyone around me not to tell me any bad news, I didn’t want any problems.

“Between my husband and my girls, I don’t know what I would have done without them, we’ve all had a trying time as a family and I feel so blessed.”

The singer then finally revealed what her daughter’s name is after not going public with it until she had told her grandparents.

In a tribute to the snowy day she was born, Jamelia said: “We’ve called her True Winter.”
