Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha reveals she ‘felt dirty’ after boss asked her to wear ‘no bra’ at a waitressing job before she was famous
LOOSE Women’s Nadia Sawalha has revealed how the stories of hostesses at the scandal-hit President’s Club brought back her own memories of sexual harassment.
The former EastEnders star, 53, revealed she felt “dirty” when she was told to wear “no bra” while working as a waitress in her late teens.
The show’s hosts were discussing the allegations surrounding the scandal-hit President’s Club when Nadia shared her story.
She said: “I was an out-of-work actress in my late teens and working as a waitress.
“I got offered a job where they said ‘you’re gorgeous’ and I thought great. But it was more money than usual.
“They said there’s a uniform, and thought that was fine. But then I got there and it was a very tight pencil skirt and white shirt.
She continued: “They told me to wear no bra. I then felt really stupid and panicked.
“I went out into the room to do my shift and there were businessmen sat at tables. Loads of women with their boobs out.
“I lasted ten minutes before I said I had to go.
“I was telling my daughter last night. I felt dirty and stupid.”
The rest of the panel could not believe her revelations and told her not to feel stupid.
This week the President’s Club fundraiser at the Dorchester Hotel was exposed on January 24 as being rife with the sexual harassment of young hostesses.
An investigation by the reported women were paid £150 to dress in skimpy black outfits and fetch drinks for 360 high-flying businessmen and celebrities in attendance.
David Walliams, who attended the club’s event as a host, has said he is “appalled” at allegations young female hostesses were sexually exploited at the men-only charity fundraiser.
The comedian said: “Last Thursday night I hosted the Presidents Club annual charity fundraiser. I agreed to host as it is one of the biggest charity fund raising events of the year. I was there in a strictly professional capacity and not as a guest.
“I left immediately after I had finished my presenting on stage at 11.30pm. I did not witness any of the kind of behaviour that allegedly occurred and am absolutely appalled by the reports.”
