EastEnders’ James Bye reveals Martin will never forgive cheating wife Stacey as he reveals shock at show’s violent scenes
It seems it might finally be the end of the road for the troubled couple
EASTENDERS' James Bye has dampened fans hopes of a reconciliation between Martin Fowler and his cheating wife Stacey Slater.
Martin was left scorned after discovering that his troubled spouse had been unfaithful earlier this week, and James reckons this time there'll be no turning back.
He confessed: "He's been through so much. I don't think he's dealt with it the right way. Looking back over the scenes with Stacey, it was actually shocking because it was so violent.
"But he's been through a lot and I think it's shown viewers that Martin has a backbone.
"He won't let Stacey walk all over him which is what she wants ultimately."
Fans watched in shock on Monday as the warring couple got into a brutal fight, that ended with Martin dragging Stacey (Lacey Turner) outside and telling the others in Walford how
Praising director John Yorke's approach to the gripping storyline, James continued: "It's too early to say if Martin and Stacey will work it out. What John has done so cleverly is making it play out in real time.
"There is no quick fix for them. There are going to be ups and downs. They might get on again then suddenly it could be going in another direction."
The 33-year-old actor added: "John has given the show a massive kick up the a**e, he's got the show by the b*****ks and said, 'come on! Let's get back to where we belong!' I think we're on the right path."
Martin and Stacey's rocky relationship has been one of the soap's leading storylines since James made his debut on the show back in 2015, and it sounds like viewers can expect plenty more drama from the son of late Walford stalwart Pauline Fowler.

James gushed: "It's so exciting, since I've come into this show. I've had such a variety of things to do and topics to take on. We're going from strength to strength and I think we're only going to get better!
"I get people stopping me in the veg section in Tesco! Sometimes it's asking me if they can have a bag or carrots but mainly it's for punching Max!"
