Doctor Foster star Suranne Jones wears 50-50 badge backing equal representation for women at NTAs
The actress bagged the Best Drama Performance award for her role as GP Gemma Foster at the Sun-backed NTA awards
DOCTOR Foster actress Suranne Jones bagged the two top drama gongs at the Sun-backed National Television Awards.
The suited-up star, 39, who wore a 50-50 badge backing equal representation for women, scooped Best Drama Performance for her role as GP Gemma Foster.
She triumphed ahead of Sheridan Smith, 36, nominated for her turn in BBC1’s The Moorside.
Collecting her award, mum-of-one Suranne said: “I really didn’t expect that.”
She also picked up the Best Drama award on behalf of the BBC1 thriller alongside co-star Bertie Carvel, 40.
Strictly won Best Talent Show for the second year in a row, beating ITV’s X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.
BGT’s David Walliams, 46, overcame boss Simon Cowell, 58, to win Best TV Judge.
Sir David Attenborough, 91, and the Blue Planet II team were given the specially created Impact Award for their work on the BBC1 blockbuster.
Emmerdale scooped Best Serial Drama while Corrie’s Lucy Fallon, 22, beat co-star Barbara Knox, 84, to win Best Serial Drama Performance.
