Lucy, 22, plays Bethany Platt in the ITV1 soap and has had a string of huge story lines since joining the show in 2015.

She'd had viewers gripped recently, with Bethany taking up lap-dancing to reassert her authority over men after she fell victim to a sex grooming plot.

The star hugged her co-stars as she made her way on stage, and tearfully warned the audience she "wouldn't be able to speak any sense."

The actress had a long list of people she wanted to thank, saying: "Thank you to everybody, all of the cast, my Platt family - Tina [O'Brien] and Colson [Smith] because he'd kill me if I didn't mention him, and everybody who voted.
