Who is David Platt rapist Josh Tucker and why does he get attacked in Coronation Street?
The character is played by actor Ryan Clayton and was part of a memorable Corrie storyline
CORONATION Street’s villain of the year is set to make a return to the ITV soap as David Platt tracks down vile rapist Josh Tucker.
But who is Josh Tucker and why does he end up in hospital? Here's the latest on the shocking storyline...
Who is Josh Tucker and who is he played by in Coronation Street?
In case you’ve just returned from a holiday on the moon and haven’t heard of Josh Tucker, he’s the evil character who raped David Platt in Coronation Street.
Josh arrived on the cobbles and took murdered Luke Britton’s job and the garage before he befriended David.
But their friendship was short-lived when Josh drugged David and raped him after a night out.
Viewers were spared any explicit scenes and instead, the story showed David waking up in Josh's bed and realising the horror of what happened to him.
It was the first time in Coronation Street's 57-year-history where a male rape has been covered on screen.
The soap has worked closely with Survivors Manchester to ensure the serious subject is tackled sensitively and accurately.
Josh is played by actor Ryan Clayton.
He made his debut on the soap in scenes shown on Friday, January 26, when he met David at The Rovers.
Ryan's a relatively unknown actor, who has starred in various theatre productions across the country.
He's also had minor roles in various TV shows.
Ryan is on Twitter and on Instagram .
Why is he back?
David’s girlfriend Shona will become suspicious of his shady behaviour when she finds some receipts all for a specific café.
She asks vicar Billy Mayhew to find out what David is up to.
Billy follows David and clocks him stalking a man. When he confronts David, the hairdresser tells him that he has been following Josh to make sure he doesn’t attack anyone else.
When David goes home, Billy approaches the man and tells him that Josh is actually a rapist.
Later Billy gets a visit from the police who tell him Josh has been violently attacked and is fighting for his life in hospital.

What was the backlash?
As the dramatic scenes unfolded, viewers were left mortified at what was to come next - and even threatened to switch off as the rape played out before them.
122 viewers complained to Ofcom and a spokeswoman told The Sun's Bizzare column: “We would assess any complaints under our broadcasting rules, before deciding whether or not to investigate.”
However, Ryan has defended the controversial storyline and said: "The scenes are great. It's really well written and the way they've worked with Survivors Manchester as well, they worked very closely. They're making it as realistic as possible."
