Call The Midwife’s Victoria Yeates will adopt rather than have her own children after being inspired by Oliver Twist
A recurring nightmare about the Charles Dickens’ play as a child made the actress think seriously about adopting
CALL The Midwife star Victoria Yeates has revealed she’d rather adopt children than give birth to her own.
The actress, who plays Sister Winifred, admitted she’s wanted to take in children who need homes since she was a child and had a recurring nightmare about Oliver Twist.
Victoria told : “Ever since I was little, I don’t know why, my mum said I always wanted to adopt, and I was always worried about children that didn’t have anywhere to go.
“I would have this recurring nightmare, which probably came from watching Oliver Twist.
“I’d open the curtains and all these orphans were outside, hundreds of them that didn’t have homes.
“That was probably from when I was about seven.
“Obviously if I fell pregnant we would keep the baby. But in terms of what we want, maybe that is the right path for us.”
Victoria went on to say how her co-star Helen George’s newborn daughter has made her feel broody and explained about her charity work with Cornerstone.
The organisation works with adoptive and foster parents and Victoria is passionate about the cause.
Fans of the show will be pleased to see her return later this year when the next series of the hit BBC show starts again.
Earlier this month, Helen revealed she chose to have a cesarean after the show put her off giving birth naturally.
She told : “I haven't spoken about this before but I chose to have a C-section.

“It coincided with the fact that I had to deliver her early, but even without that, I would have gone for an elective caesarean because of what I'd learnt on Call The Midwife."
“Working on Call The Midwife means that lots of people tell you their horror stories about birth. I'm not against natural birth, I'm pro whatever you feel is right for you.”
