Take Me Out star reveals producers give them a ‘babysitter,’ pick their outfits and they can’t speak to their date until they reach Fernandos
A CONTESTANT on Take Me Out has lifted the lid on what really goes on behind the scenes of the popular ITV dating show.
Roscoe Crawford, whose date was shown on Saturday, revealed there's 24/7 supervision from a chaperone and contestants have regular room checks after their date to make sure there's 'no bad behaviour'.
Scottish hairdresser Roscoe, 32, was quizzed by host Paddy McGuinness and stood in front of 30 women as he secured a date with personal assistant Debi, 40.
But Roscoe says even deciding what to wear is taken out of your hands.
Speaking to , he says: "When you first get to the studio you are told to bring a suitcase of your clothes and the producers pick what they think you should wear.
"You're then in the green room all day surrounded by runners and staff who are there to try buzz you up and keep you full of energy.
"They literally don't let you relax. They encourage you to practice your talent and play loud music to make sure you are saying alert.
"When you have picked your date you're not actually allowed to speak to them much because they are whisked away. You don't know anything about them or even what age they are until you go to Fernandos.
"It's actually a bit like a blind date but you know what the person looks like."
And Roscoe says that all the male contestants from the show are closely chaperoned from the moment they pick a potential date to when they come face to face in front of the cameras.
Roscoe adds: "We were all given a babysitter who went everywhere with us.
"For the first two days the boys were together, we all flew out together and the girls were on a separate flight.
"They do this so we can't speak to the girls and spoil any reactions or say anything bad because they want to catch everything on camera.
The following day we were picked up at the hotel at 8am and spent the full day filming the dates until 10pm. There's a lot of travelling between dates involved and a lot of waiting around.
"We were given glasses of champagne but told not to drink too much.

"After the dates and the reactions were filmed we went back to the hotel and we were allowed to drink with the girls at the bar, but our babysitters did regular room checks to make sure there was no bad behaviour.
"The next morning we were picked up for the airport and taken home."
The successful ITV dating show has had success stories at matching couples over its seven-year run. There have been seven weddings and two babies from couples who've found love on the show.
