DREAM COME TRUE

S Club 7’s Paul Cattermole’s BRIT award eBay auction skyrockets to £65,900 just 24 hours after failing to get a single bid

Just a day after the star struggled to get a single bid on his 2000 Best Newcomer gong, the increased interest has seen more than 100 bids totalling almost £66,000

PAUL Cattermole’s eBay listing for his 2000 BRIT Award has skyrocketed to £65,000 after originally struggling to get one bid.

The 40-year-old pop star has been trying to flog one-of-a-kind memorabilia on the online auction site, including his platinum awards, in a bid to get some quick cash.

The Sun Online reported just 48 hours ago that he was struggling to shift the award, as well as a New Zealand platinum award, but two days later Paul is laughing as the bids continue to roll in.

After a series of failed attempts to – which he received alongside his S Club 7 bandmates for Best Newcomer in 2000 – fans have now flocked to the auction site with more than 126 bids coming in over 24 hours.

Clearly overwhelmed by the sudden attention the award has been getting, Paul took to Twitter to thank people for his support.

He wrote: “Shocked , stunned , amazed . Astonished . Dumbfounded . Flabbergasted.! Thankyou to everyone for you support. . I love you”

Following the increased support, he added to the auction page: “I didn’t expect it to skyrocket like this. I am watching every bid very closely and the vast majority of people have huge feedback. Some in the thousands.

“If there are some silly bids at the end on Monday I will be deleting them and/or coming straight down the line to the next bidder. So you can bid with full confidence.

“Postage can now be ignored. I will cover the full cost of postage with the most secure carrier.”

On the auction page, Paul explained: “[The statue] hasn’t been professionally polished, there are smudges that won’t come out without a pro polish.”

“There are signs of age,” he adds. “Where the arms meet the shoulders at the back, and where the neck and chest blend into the top of the dress.

“An indentation on the inside of the helmet. That is a casting bubble and has always been there”

He then upped the ante in an effort to help the sale by adding: “Paul can meet you and greet you and take photos, distance depending :-)”

But following the sudden increased interest, he has now added: "This does change the travel distance for the meet and greet and make it much larger."

However, the frame he received for their original album has a starting bid of £200, but as of yet hasn’t attracted any bids.

It is possible for pranksters to hijack listings and make joke bids as in the case of the man who thought he'd sold a new AK47 plastic £5 note for £80,000.
