Dancing On Ice’s Donna Air is heartbroken after her car is broken into and her skates are robbed
DONNA Air might struggle to compete in this coming weekend's Dancing On Ice show after her skates were pinched from her car.
The 38-year-old's car was broken into and the bag containing her custom-made skates was taken, leaving her unable to practice this week's tricky routine with skating partner Mark Henretty.
Both Mark and skating co-star Jake Quickenden posted videos to Twitter, urging whoever took them to give them back.
Mark said that Donna was 'really upset' after her car was broken into when she was at the gym and her skates and skate bag were taken.
He added that he was 'praying' for the power of social media to be able to return the skates in time for them to train for this coming weekend's show.
Rather than relying on the power of prayer, Donna has also taken to Twitter to tweet the Metropolitan Police, offering a reward for the skates which are specially moulded to the shape of her feet.
Although she doesn't mention a figure, an emotional Donna offered an incentive for anyone who might have found the footwear - suggesting that the thieves themselves would not be rewarded for coming forward.
Dancing On Ice contestant Jake Quickenden posted a heartfelt plea to his Twitter account adding the hashtag #finddonnasskates, desperate to help his friend's plight.
He said: "Last night my good mate Donna Air had her car broken into and somebody has robbed her skates.
"If you can retweet this and let us try and get her skates back because she's skating on Sunday."
In the video, Jake admits that car theft 'baffles him' and went on to explain that the stolen boots can't be easily replaced before this weekend's live show.
He told his followers: "If anyone's put those skates on down the ice rink you'll know that they hurt after about ten seconds."
"I hope that people can just help and try and find the bag with the skates in, so hashtag Find Donna's Skates."
Jake and Donna have already proved favourites on the show, with some tweeters calling for a "Donna and Jake final".
Ironically Donna's misfortune comes after she joked that she would be prepared to sabotage her competitors' skates for a stab at the final.
Ambitious Donna told the Loose Women panel that she'd be taking some tips from US figure skater Tonya Harding, who was alleged to be implicated in a plot to harm one of her rivals.
Donna joked: “I’m going to have a Tonya Harding moment where I start unscrewing some skates."
