Celebrity Big Brother viewers blast ‘boring’ entrance interviews for ‘killing the atmosphere’ at live launch of all-female series
Channel 5 have tried out a new format with sit down interviews for each contestant BEFORE they enter the house - but viewers aren't buying it
CELEBRITY Big Brother's new live launch format left viewers confused and divided as host Emma Willis gave sit down interviews to the contestants BEFORE entering the house.
In previous years, Emma has only spoken briefly to each contestant on stage outside the house before they enter the compound for the first time.
However, on the new series launch, each celebrity was given a five minute sit-down chat about what they expect from the house - and in some cases were told ahead of time who would be joining them on the show.
Viewers flocked Twitter to discuss the new format, with some telling show bosses they would rather the housemates enter immediately so the show can begin.
"These indoor interviews are killing the atmosphere. #cbb #celebritybigbrother," wrote one viewer.
One wrote: "Sit down interviews before they go in the house now?🤔 This feels very disjointed... #CBB"
While another knocked Emma for telling Rachel Johnson that Ann Widdicombe was in the house and wrote: "Why are they telling them who’s already in there? I don’t like the pre-interviews "
A third fan thought the adjustment was made to compensate for the lack of initial housemates, and said: "I've heard there are only 7 going in is this the reason for the pre interview?? Fill up the time? 🤔
While others were left divided and said: "Enjoying the interviews but it’s a bit too quiet/still for a launch. Would be better with a bit of low background music! "
Tonight Emma Willis welcomed eight women into the house as part of the first ever all-female line-up of the series.
This includes Kardashian bestie Malika Haqq, politician Ann Widdecombe, and transgender news reporter India Willoughby.
The choice was made to celebrate 100 years since women won the right to vote, and has been dubbed “Year of the Woman” - but over time men will slowly be integrated into the mix to cause tension.
Emma Willis will be the leading lady of the main show, while Rylan Clark-Neal returns as the master of ceremonies of after-show spin-off, Big Brother’s Bit on the Side.
Catch Celebrity Big Brother weeknights, only on Channel 5.
