James Norton fans demand he becomes next James Bond after McMafia role
His role as Alex Godman in the BBC drama has fans convinced he's going to play 007
JAMES Norton’s fans have insisted he take on the role as James Bond after he wowed in the first episode of McMafia.
The actor plays Daniel Godman, the son of an exiled Russian mafia boss who tries to go straight as a London banker, in the new BBC drama.
Following the first episode, his followers demanded he go for the role as 007.
Daniel Craig is currently working on his final film in the franchise which is to be released in 2019.
One tweeted: “#McMafia is basically James Norton’s audition tape for Bond, and I’m all for it.”
A second said: “How brilliant is #McMafia?! Smooth, intriguing, smart script and top class casting. I mean, I’m no 007 fan but I soon could be if James Norton becomes the new Bond.”
Another told their Twitter followers: “Well, I bloody loved #McMafia . Very thrilling and stylish. And James Norton too full of character to be Bond.”
His fans aren’t the only ones who think James, 32, could be a shoe-in for the part.
He explained: “If the producers of James Bond look at him and say: ‘He’s the man,’ I certainly wouldn’t stand up and say: ‘No he’s not.’ That’s James’s decision.
“There’s a lot of speculation as to whether James is going to be the next Bond. I don’t know, but what
I can say is having worked with him, he’s a terrifically versatile actor.”
Producers are considering whether the show could continue without James.
James had previously said he was honoured that his name was being linked to the world famous franchise but made it clear he wasn’t in the running just yet.

McMafia is being compared to BBC’s 2016 thriller The Night Manager which drew six million viewers.
