CORONATION Street star Lucy Fallon has sparked engagement rumours after referring to her boyfriend as her "to be husband" in a gushing Instagram post.
The 21-year-old actress - who plays Bethany Platt in the ITV soap - was inundated with congratulatory messages after she posted the comment alongside a picture with her boyfriend and her cousin.
She wrote: "I would never ask ANYONE else to be my ‘plus one’. My beautiful cousin, my best friend (and my maid of honour) or my beautiful boyfriend (my 'to be husband!)- so this pic chose it xxxx"
However, after fans rushed to offer their congratulations, Lucy edited the caption to remove the reference to Intranet manager Tom being her husband.
The Sun Online can reveal that the couple aren't engaged and it was just a jokey message that the pair are famous for with their friends.
The couple, who have been together for two years, bought their first home together in March and share a dog together.
Lucy has previously spoken about her desire to marry Tom.
She told OK! magazine: "I know we'll get married and have babies together."
Tom added: "She keeps sending me pictures of rings that she likes."
He also spoke of how he knew Lucy was The One, calling her the "life and soul of the party".

"So getting to know her on a one-on-one, calm level – without sounding too cringe – I knew straight away she was the girl for me."
