Jeremy’s friends told The Sun Online: “Jez was so excited to walk around as a free man.

“He kept his spirits up in prison and now he’s out it’s a fresh start for him.

“Jez told us prison food was s**t and was in great form, laughing and joking with us.

“All of his mates are pleased he’s going to be out of New Year after spending Christmas inside.”

Jeremy will now be fitted with an electronic tag and will be required to adhere to a curfew.

After leaving prison, Jeremy posted on his Instagram account and told his followers: “Thanks for all your messages.

“I've read so much lies and it's incredible. Have a good New Year.”

A court handed Jeremy a suspended sentence in August after being found guilty of assaulting the mother of his baby son Stephanie Davis.

He had been sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and told to attend a Building Better Relationships course, as well as carrying out 200 hours community service.

Although he served some of his community service, Jeremy, 27, later flew to Turkey for a hair transplant and was ordered back into the dock when he returned.

The probation service recommended he complete extra hours of unpaid work after missing eight appointments but the judge dismissed the recommendations and sent him to jail.

Jeremy had appealed his sentence at the start of December but a court blunder meant he was sent back to jail.

A court clerk got his solicitor's email address wrong - meaning he was unrepresented at court.

After being sent down, Jeremy's pals told The Sun Online how the Celebrity Big Brother star was trying to keep his spirits up.

A pal explained: “Jeremy is keeping his head up and is trying to fit into life in the prison as best he can.

“He wanted to thank everyone who’s shown in support and is trying to keep a brave face on.

“Jeremy told us the cocktails they served weren’t great but is getting by.

“He was in a joking mood and was smiling but it’s not been easy for him. Being inside has made him realise who his friends are.

“He’s been decorating his cell for Christmas and is keeping his nose clean while he’s inside.”

Earlier this week, Jeremy was at the centre of a damning report which claimed the room he rented in Wales before being jailed was “trashed”.

It was also alleged he “smeared excrement” across the walls of the flat – leaving the owners stunned.

However his friends denied the reports and told The Sun Online Jeremy was devastated by the claims.

They continued: “Jez is deeply upset about what is being said inaccurately.

“Yeah the room wasn’t tidy but the last thing the poor lad wanted to do was tidy his bedroom before going to jail.

“It was more like a student boy’s room rather than a crack den.”

Jeremy’s representative said: I have seen videos of the room before it was tidied and can confirm the description is greatly over exaggerated.

“There was no excrement anywhere and Jeremy himself has paid £74 himself for the room to be tidied.”
