Strictly Come Dancing’s Aston Merrygold announces engagement to his long-term girlfriend Sarah Richards just days before she’s due to give birth
ASTON Merrygold has announced his engagement to his long-term girlfriend, Sarah Lou Richards.
The 29-year-old JLS and Strictly star revealed the happy news today on Instagram, in a sweet post simply captioned: "Allow me to introduce you all to my fiancée💍"
In the photo, Aston and Sarah Lou, 33, can be seen standing in a heart made of flower petals, with Sarah's hand showing off a diamond sparkler as she rests it on his chest.
The beaming star also changed his location to "on Cloud 9" after his other half accepted his proposal.
Janette Manrara, Aston's Strictly dance partner, was one of the first to congratulate the happy couple, and wrote online: "AGHHHHH!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! Such beautiful news!! Amazing couple & you will be the most gorgeous bride & groom! Love you both!!! "
Aston met his new fiancee back in 2012, when Sarah was working as a back-up dancer for JLS.
In September this year, the pair announced they were expecting their first child together, shortly before the start of Aston’s stint on Strictly Come Dancing.
At the time, Aston announced the news online as he wrote: "On May 29th 2017 we found out that our lives were going to change forever!
"This secret has been so hard to keep, but I'm so excited to finally be able to share the news with everybody that me and my beautiful lady @sarahlourichards are going to be parents!!!!!!”
The singer continued: "I'm NEVER speechless but words can't describe how I feel.. All I know is there's no feeling like it!
"Sar I promise to be the best daddy ever to our baby boy/girl.
"You are an amazing woman and going to be the greatest mum to our child!"
"Thank you for making me the happiest man ever. I love you. Hurry up bump, we can’t wait to meet you.”

The couple have opted not to discover the baby's sex, and instead are waiting until she gives birth to announce it.
Aston cannot wait to become a dad and have his own little family, which is a world away from his boy band days when he was offered sex up to five times a day.
Asked by if those days were well and truly behind him, Aston said: "Of course those days are over. I am nicely into a five-year relationship and have a baby on the way. It is all good."
