EastEnders confirms both Abi and Lauren Branning have SURVIVED horror fall as dad Max is arrested
But while the sisters have survived their plunge off of the Queen Vic's roof, their dad hasn't been quite so lucky
LAUREN and Abi Branning have survived their horror fall off the Queen Vic pub in EastEnders.
The sisters - who are played by actresses Jacqueline Jossa and Lorna Fitzgerald in the BBC soap - fell off the pub roof while trying to save their dad Max’s life.
But now the pair are in hospital and alive after their accident, but things aren’t going well for their dad who was arrested for Grievous Bodily harm to his daughters.
In last night’s episode Max was finally exposed for all his evil deeds when his ex-wife Tanya returned to confront him and save their girls - leaving viewers stunned.
Finally passing on Jane Beale’s message about why she really had to leave, and how Max had killed Steven Beale.
Being rejected by a disgusted Stacey, and his family set to leave him, Max stormed through the Square as he clashed with Ian Beale who had learned of his killing Steven.
But when Ian was dragged away, Kathy begged ex Phil to put an end to Max once and for all.
As Max stormed through the Square, he walked into a violent confrontation with Phil, who had the gun Aidan planted in the Vic after Mick gave it to Billy to get rid of.
But after Phil made a return to form by kicking seven bells out of Max, he refused to kill him, despite Max’s begging, though the gun did go off, hitting the railings in the Square.
“Get off the ledge dad, we are not going back in without you,” Abi said as she and Lauren climbed onto the roof.
But as Max agreed to go inside, Lauren slipped and dragged Abi off the roof with her - both of them plunging to the floor in front of their screaming mum.
Fans sat open mouthed as they watched the scene, with many stunned at the shocking twist.
One tweeted: "Nooooooooo #EastEnders omg #notthegirls."
Another said: "THEY F***ING DIDN'T! LAUREN AND ABI! NOOOOOOO #EastEnders"
A third commented: "Whatttttttttttttttttttttttttttt im dead."
Outgoing EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa has said she was thrilled to be given the dramatic scenes she had hoped for as she filmed some of her last moments in Walford.
During Monday's explosive Christmas Day special, viewers saw her character Lauren Branning and sister Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) plummet from the roof of the Queen Vic pub after trying to help father Max (Jake Wood).
The dramatic scenes, signalling a significant split for the beleaguered Branning family, come up in the lead-up to the actress's previously announced departure from the show.
Jossa said: "I think when you're leaving, it's like 'It better be Christmas', and 'I better be falling off the Vic'.
"That is what you want, you want it to be big, everyone speaking about it, and obviously it is, and it's going to be, and it's going to be one that everyone remembers."
Recalling filming the stunts in the early hours, she continued: "It was freezing cold, it was two in the morning. Lorna was not scared at all and I was terrified - but, in fairness, she could see where she was falling, and I was falling backwards."
The on-screen siblings said the big event marked an emotional moment for them both after spending years side by side on set.

Fitzgerald, 21, first arrived in Albert Square 11 years ago, while Jossa, 25, took over from Madeline Duggan in 2010.
After filming some of her last scenes, Jossa said: "There's been moments when we have just a look between us ... all of a sudden, the look means so much more, because we know what's about to happen in the story and where it's going.
"Everything is so important now. It is telling a story and it's coming together with that story, so it is really sad."
