The Walking Dead will ‘end after a few seasons’ claims killed off cast member Chandler Riggs
WALKING Dead fans have had a lot to deal with this season, and now departing show favourite Chandler Riggs has hinted the show is coming to an end.
Following the shocking twist, which saw Carl Grimes reveal a fatal walker bite, the 18-year-old actor took the unprecedented step of asking a fan site to "respect" his character and not post any spoilers - also inadvertently dropping what appeared to be a bombshell.
As the mid-season finale of the eighth series of AMC's hit post-apocalyptic horror drama loomed, Chandler posted a message on .
According to , the message read: "Out of respect for me, for Carl, and for one of the last few seasons of the show, I’m asking you not to spoil the ending of 808 once your sources inform you of what happens."
Since then fans have been left asking what the young actor meant, as the show's boss, Scott Gimple, had previously boasted that the series could run for perhaps 20 series or more.
However, as Chandler bids goodbye to the show after Carl suffered a fatal bite from a Walker - meaning almost certainly he'll have to be killed and disposed of - the star appeared to hint the show is on the way out.
Something that might add to the confusion is the fact that neither Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) or Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) have signed up for a ninth series.
Though it's thought this is due to contract renegotiations.
That may not be the only problem facing the show, as following the mid-season finale nearly 60,000 outraged fans of the show have signed a petition to have Gimple removed.
Killing off Carl Grimes has proved to be a controversial move that has divided the show's loyal fanbase.
The Walking Dead returns February 25, 2018 on AMC in the US and February 26, 2018 on FOX and NOW TV in the UK.
