SHAMED actor Bruno Langley has revealed he's having counselling after his sex attack conviction because his boozing has spiralled out of control.

The former Coronation Street star said "alcohol has been a problem" for two years before he was hauled into court to face charges for groping two women during a drunken night out in Manchester.

Langley, 34, admitted two charges of sexual assault in court  last month stemming from an incident at the Band On The Wall venue on October 1.

He has now offered a tearful apology for his actions and revealed his drinking got so bad he started having blackouts.

The actor is now having therapy and attending alcoholics anonymous meetings in a bid to turn his life around.

He told the I’ve been living way too fast for too long... My drinking had escalated. The wheels fell off.

“I wasn’t particularly happy... I’ve started going to see a counsellor and been attending AA meetings and that’s helped.

"In fact, I started going straight away, before I was called for the meeting with ITV because I was so ashamed of my actions that night.

“I knew I needed help. It’s helped me look back and realise I was drinking every day. Blackouts became normal.

“Alcohol has been a problem for at least two years. I was drinking everything – spirits, beer, wine.

“I’d get home and have one glass of wine, then two, then the whole bottle...

“People think I have all the confidence in the world but I don’t. Especially in social situations – so I’d drink, drink, drink. I didn’t know when to stop.

“When I hear the stories at the AA meeting I can relate to so many of them, that’s why I know I’m in the right place.”

The shamed actor is now serving a 12 month community order involving a curfew and electronic tag.

He has also been placed on the sex offenders' register for five years and repaid his victims £250 each.

Langley was sacked as Todd Grimshaw in the ITV soap before he was convicted of the charges and Coronation Street bosses are writing out his character in scenes that will be aired in the new year.
