Strictly’s Gorka Marquez makes a cheeky joke about his rumoured romance with Gemma Atkinson as he is quizzed over their relationship status
The professional dancer made the comments when quizzed about his rumoured fling with the actress
GEMMA Atkinson was left red-faced this week when she was asked at a press conference about her rumoured romance with professional dancer Gorka Marquez.
The former Emmerdale actress has been linked to the Spanish heartthrob throughout the series - and he eased the tension by making a cheeky joke.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of this weekend's final, soap babe Gemma, 33, said she'd "already won her Glitterball trophy" by striking up a friendship with her pro partner Alijaz Skorjanec.
She was then asked if she'd also got the real prize, referring to Gorka, 27.
Sparing her blushes, the dancer and choreographer spoke out to try and distract attention from his rumoured girlfriend.
Standing up, he announced: "I'm a trophy for so many women."
His gag comes after the pair have been pictured on several discreet dinner dates.
The Sun previously reported how their relationship exploded into the open following a fiery public row when the dancers and contestants went to film the show in Blackpool last month.
The pair were seen arguing at an afterparty, reportedly after the actress saw Gorka flirting with a female backing dancer.
Gemma also opened up about her close friendship with dance partner Alijaz Skorjanec.
She said: "The fact that we're all sat here, we've done every single weekend available to us on the show.
"Obviously [winning] would be the icing on the cake, but as cheesy as this sounds, I said to my Mum 'the Glitterball for me would be meeting Alijaz' because regardless I've got a friend for life."
The Sun revealed in October that Gemma had secretly started dating Gorka.
Rumours of behind-the-scenes spats have been rife, with pop star Alexandra reportedly unhappy about their romance in case it interferes with their training.
Just last week the pair were spotted embracing at the end of Sunday night's show.
As the contestants hugged farewell to booted-off contestant Mollie King, Gemma was seen turning to Gorka for a lingering embrace as the camera panned out.
