Susan Sarandon - born Susan Abigail Tomalin - is a Hollywood actress whose career has spanned fifty years.
Born on October 4, 1946, she is 71 years old.
Raised Roman Catholic, Susan is the eldest of nine children - with four brothers and four sisters.
Alongside her work in film, Susan is an outspoken political activist, notably supporting Jill Stein in the 2016 US election.
She is also a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, and animal rights activist and a leading voice in the fight to end the death penalty in the US.
As part of this, she was a notable fierce defender of Richard Glossip, a man who is currently incarcerated for a murder conviction.
