John Boyega reveals he was JOKING when he told This Morning Princes William and Harry’s Star Wars cameos were ‘left on the cutting room floor’
He claimed the royals debut on the big screen was chopped, suggesting their acting skills weren't up to scratch
ACTOR John Boyega has revealed he was joking when he said that Princes William and Harry's royal cameo in the new Star Wars film had been cut.
He made the claim during an interview on This Morning on Wednesday, leaving presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby shocked.
John, 25, had been asked if the Princes had played Stormtroopers.
He replied: "Yeah they were man, I'm sick of this. They were but they were cut out of the film.
When Phillip asked if the pair had ended up on the cutting room floor, John implied that their acting skills hadn't been up to scratch.
"I did personally apologise to them yesterday and said: "Sorry you were cut out of the film, and Will was like: "I probably just need to work more on the skills.
"I was like: "Maybe bruv."
The pair were rumoured to have non-speaking roles in the latest instalment of the franchise, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The pair were spotted at Pinewood Studios last April, where they were pictured playing with lightsabers and chatting to the crew.
But a spokesman for John said: "I can confirm he was joking."
Rumours emerged that the pair have made their big screen debut in a scene featuring a group of Stormtroopers guarding the Empire ship.
Stormtroopers have to be 5ft 11 to play the part, so it's thought that William and Harry - who are 6ft 2in and 6ft 1in - will be easy to spot.
At the time, a source said: "The line given was that they were going to have lunch and a private tour of the rest of the set.
"What really happened is that the director came over and told them it was time to "get suited" and off they went to the wardrobe department."
