Coronation Street’s Bethany Platt to stage furious uprising of strippers after one of her friends is groped
CORONATION Street’s Bethany Platt will stage a furious uprising of strippers after one of her friends is groped.
The character, who was at the centre of a long-running grooming storyline earlier this year, will mount a revolt and lead other dancers in a campaign against abuse.
It comes after her recent return to the Street and the revelation that she will become a stripper following her harrowing ordeal.
A show source told the Sun’s Bizarre column: “Bosses wanted to show a different side to Bethany’s story. She has been through a lot and this will show an empowered side to her.
“It’s her overcoming what she was put through and take back the control over those men who have been awful to her previously.
“She is going to kick off royally and then try and lead a revolt at the strip club until things are sorted.”
Bethany had sobbed as she watched her abusers be found guilty of their vile crimes.
Corrie faced an Ofcom probe, and eventually apologised, after showing the sex abuse victim being sketched in court, which would never happen in real life.
The schoolgirl, played by Lucy Fallon, 22, left the show in October in order to escape Weatherfield.
She returned to Italy for an elongated holiday as she struggled to cope with her memories of her ordeal from vile Nathan Curtis and the sex gang.
Bethany returned earlier this month and is set to become a lapdancer, as revealed by The Sun on Sunday
Her mum Sarah’s boyfriend Gary had a plan and surprised her with business class tickets to Milan, where she grew up.
She returned earlier this month and is set to become a lapdancer, as revealed by The Sun on Sunday.
An insider said: “Becoming a lapdancer is about having control over men for Bethany.
“She feels she has power over the punters she’s dancing for because they are paying to watch her but can’t touch her.
“She pities them for wanting her and the fact she refuses to take all her clothes off helps her feel like she’s the one calling the shots.
“But she keeps what she’s doing a secret.”
