Who is Faye Marsay?

Faye Marsay is a 31-year-old actress from Middlesbrough, England.

She was educated at her local comprehensive before she won a bursary to the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Of her humble roots, she has said: “I feel passionately that the opportunities I have had should be available to everyone.

"I’m from a salt-of-the-earth working-class northern background. My dad’s a steelworker and a firefighter and my mum is a secretary for the NHS.”

Since then, she has been getting constant work in TV, mainly in gritty dramas.

What would I have seen Faye in?

Faye, 30, has quite the impressive CV – starring as Anne Neville in The White Queen, Amy in Need for Speed, Candice in Fresh Meat and Steph in the film Pride.

Other major roles include Blue Colson in the Black Mirror episode Hated in the Nation, and the Waif in the fifth and sixth seasons of Game of Thrones.

Most recently, she has taken part in ITV detective drama Bancroft, and as the sexual assault survivor out for revenge on Channel 4's Shamed.

When is McMafia on?

McMafia starts on BBC One at 9pm on 1 and 2 January.

The series will run for eight episodes, with each new episode becoming available on iPlayer shortly after its initial airtime.

In the US, it will screen on cable channel, AMC, which is known for its cult dramas including The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul.

Amazon Prime will be bringing the series to a further 200 countries and channels.
