VICTORIA is returning especially for the festive season for a TWO hour special – and it looks like all is not well in the castle.
Jenna Coleman will return as the pregnant young Queen who is still adjusting to her life as a mother and ruler of the United Kingdom.
Preparing to become a mum for the fourth time, Victoria is seen reflecting on her sad previous Christmases in Kensington Palace.
Albert, on the other hand is gripped by an obsession with staging the perfect family Christmas, transforming the palace into a magical festive wonderland.
Tensions arise between him and Victoria, however, when Albert invites some unwelcome house guests to join the celebrations.
Set in Christmas 1846, the episode also sees Victoria uncharacteristically melancholy as she prepares to tackle her first Christmas without her beloved Baroness Lehzen.
Meanwhile, in the staff quarters, chef Francatelli and Skerrett are struggling to keep their romance secret now they’re finally together, as it is forbidden for servants to be in relationships.
It is complicated further Skerrett inherits a large estate from an estranged uncle - will the new couple survive the season?
Or will their newfound responsibilities get in the way of their love?
Looks like it’s going to be anything but a quiet Christmas at Buckingham Palace…
- The Victoria Special will air on Christmas Day at 9pm on ITV1.
