James Arthur hits out after X Factor fans call Rak Su and Grace Davies ‘brave’ for performing original songs during the final
Former X Factor winner couldn’t hold his tongue during tonight’s final.
JAMES Arthur lashed out after X Factor fans hailed Rak Su and Grace Davies “brave” for singing original songs in tonight’s final.
Both acts chose their own material for the show this evening, with Rak Su performing Touche and Mona Lisa, and Grace singing Nothing But Words and Too Young.
Fans watching at home called Grace and Rak Su “brave” for not opting for a cover track.
And, after watching Ashley, Jamaal, Myles and Mustafa belt out their final song, Simon told them: “Not many artists with this much at stake rather than just doing something before, or doing an old song, you stuck to yourselves.
“You wrote your own song, and not many people do that.”
But their comments appeared to irk James, who won the ITV singing competition in 2012.
He told his fans: “Let’s be honest, this is the first year contestants have been allowed to do their own songs.
“Let’s stop saying how brave these guys are, it’s an advantage and respect to them for being able to do it.”
Rak Su were announced the winners of this year’s show after a tense evening.
Speaking after the vote was revealed, their mentor Simon said: “Congratulations to Grace, and obviously, to you guys, Rak-Su, you are gentlemen, you are stars.
“And to everyone who voted, thank you.”
The group's debut single Dimelo is also an original track which they performed after they were crowned the winners with Wyclef Jean and Naughty Boy.

Pink also took to the stage to showcase her singles Beautiful Trauma and What About Us and Sam Smith sang his latest track One Last Song.
