Greeting Ant and Dec in the clearing, Dennis said: “When we listened to what it was, Tortuous Tanks, we kind of thought me and Jamie would go because it’ll be difficult by the sound of it and we’ve done alright so far together.”

Dec asked them to look behind them so they could see the Tortuous Tanks.

“You’re each going to be stood in one of the tanks and when the Trial begins they’ll fill up with water. Your job is to release the five stars in each tank and they are held in place by coloured padlocks” said Dec.

“The only way to open the padlocks is with the corresponding coloured keys but be warned, the keys are mixed up between the two tanks so you’re going to have to pass the keys back and forth between tanks and test them out. There is also an extra key in each tank that doesn’t fit any lock.” said Ant.

“You have 10 stars to find and 10 minutes to do it in and each star you find is a meal for camp” said Ant.

“As you can see in there you’re already joined by a few things and you may be joined by a few more critters during the trial,” said Dec.

Dennis and Jamie climbed into the tanks and the klaxon sounded to start the trial.

The mud crabs and yabbies were very interested in what they were doing.

Both Jamie and Dennis were struggling to open padlocks with the keys that they’d found and started to pass each other keys between the two tanks.

Crocodiles soon joined Dennis and Jamie as the water levels rose. A crocodile got close to Jamie’s crotch are.

“Ooh, he’s very close to your little friend,” laughed Ant.

Dennis and Jamie started to unlock some padlocks but time was ticking against them and more critters joined them in the form of water python snakes.

Ant informed them they had three minutes left.

Jamie and Dennis tried their best to unlock more padlocks, successfully doing some and failing with others.

The klaxon sounded and their time was up, they got out of the water tanks and joined Ant and Dec.

“Good effort, that’s not easy that,” said Dec. “One of them nipped me,” said Jamie.

They counted up the stars and Dennis got three stars and Jamie got three stars so that was six stars (out of a possible 10) for camp.

Jamie and Dennis were pleased with their performance and went back to camp happy. Later in the day they received a delivery of mud crabs for their dinner.
