Paul Hollywood’s estranged wife Alexandra breaks her silence on split as he’s seen for the first time looking miserable at his book launch
PAUL Hollywood's estranged wife, Alexandra, has broken her silence following news that her marriage to the celebrity baker was over.
Taking to Twitter earlier on today the glamorous author made her first public post since she ended her 20 year marriage to Paul, saying she was picking herself up.
Tweeting a picture of a Coq au Vin she'd whipped up in the kitchen, she wrote: "Afternoon Tweeters! (..picks herself up brushes herself down ..) so I'm cooking my Grandma's Coq au Vin today ..gimme an hour & I'll post the recipe xxx."
It comes less-than 24 hours after Paul was seen looking decidedly down in the dumps at his own book launch last night.
Despite being the guest of honour at the Riding House Cafe in Fitzrovia, London, the 51-year-old Great British Bake Off star was seem leaving the bash without a smile on his face.
Paul, who recently announced that he'd split with his wife, flew solo at the event.
Wrapping up against the freezing temperatures in the capital, he donned a pea coat, scarf and a pair of jeans and boots.
Sporting more of a beard than usual, the Scouse baking star cut a rugged figure.
Paul was attending the book bash to celebrate the release of his brand new book, A Baker's Life.
Paul and his wife Alex split last month, with The Sun revealing his wife of 20 years had called time on their union, as she had struggled to get over Paul's infidelity.
They previously separated in 2013 when the TV chef admitted to having an affair with Marcela Valladolid, his co-star on the US version of Bake Off.
A source said: “In the last few months, Alex had completely given up on their relationship.
“The trust was totally gone. She just didn’t want to make it work any more. She feels fame has changed him. He’s not the same man she fell for all those years ago.
“He used to joke about just being a simple baker when he first became well-known, but these days that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“He’s a huge star, and he knows it. He’s had all the success he could ever have dreamed of, but she fears it has gone to his head.”
The insider added: “Alex told him things were finished and asked him to leave the family home."
