Coronation Street star Shayne Ward to leave soap in an ‘explosive’ storyline after three years on the show
CORRIE’S Shayne Ward is leaving the soap — in what insiders say will be an “explosive” storyline.
Cast and crew are being sworn to secrecy about the fate of the X Factor winner’s character Aidan Connor.
But a source revealed: “Nobody will see this coming. Viewers are going to be absolutely stunned. It’s going to be a blow for the fans — but also a massive TV moment.”
Shayne, 33 — who won The X Factor in 2005 — made his debut on the ITV soap three years ago, playing the cousin of Kym Marsh’s character Michelle.
The handsome newcomer has since enjoyed a string of on-screen romances.
The source said: “Shayne has become one of Corrie’s most popular actors.
“He’s a huge hit with fans and has even won awards for his performances.”
The star will make his final bow next May.
The insider said: “Everybody wants Shayne leaving to be a huge part of the show next year.
“Bosses are working on it at the moment and have something really explosive planned for the character.”
