Meghan Markle was written out of Suits a year ago as show creator predicted her relationship with Prince Harry would be a success
SUITS creator Aaron Korsh decided to write Meghan Markle out of the drama a year ago.
The American actress, 36, won't be returning to the show for which she's best known following her engagement to Prince Harry.
The show's creator Aaron Korsh told that he and the writers took a gamble on writing out Meghan's Rachel Zane character because they knew the relationship with Harry would work out.
He said: "I knew from a year ago that this relationship was burgeoning.
"And I had a decision to make because I didn't want to intrude and ask her, 'hey what's going on and what are you going to do?'. So collectively with the writers, we decided to take a gamble that these two people were in love and it was going to work out."
"What we decided to do (was to) say, 'look, I would rather have good things happen to Meghan in her life' - which would likely mean her leaving the show."
Yesterday Bizarre's Dan Wootton revealed Meghan has quit showbiz altogether, telling her agent and Hollywood friends she is not interested in any further acting or other paid work following her engagement to Prince Harry.
Friends fear that the Californian native will become deeply unhappy like Grace Kelly, who retired from acting at just 26 after her marriage to Rainier III, Prince of Monaco.
