Meghan Markle calls it quits on showbiz career following engagement to Prince Harry
MEGHAN Markle has quit showbiz altogether, telling her agent and Hollywood friends she is not interested in any further acting or other paid work following her engagement to Prince Harry.
Friends fear that the Californian native will become deeply unhappy like Grace Kelly, who retired from acting at just 26 after her marriage to Rainier III, Prince of Monaco.
Last night a Hollywood source revealed: “Meghan has been very clear that her entire paid showbiz career is now over.
“She will maintain her agent and PR to field calls and offers, but she is not seeking any acting work and not planning to.
“She understands the commitment required to enter the royal family and she’s made peace with the fact she had a very successful seven years on Suits.
“She doesn’t feel like she has anything left to prove.”
Meghan’s acting agent is Nick Collins, a partner at The Gersch Agency, which represent actor Taylor Kinney, former fiance of singer Lady Gaga, and Eric McCormack, who plays Will Truman in US sitcom, Will & Grace.
She is currently represented by publicist Chantal Artur at US public relations firm Sunshine Sachs.
Chantal also works with big stars including singer Jennifer Lopez, 48, and Hollywood actress Natalie Portman, 36.
The firm, one of the best known in entertainment, was formed by PR gurus Ken Sunshine and Shawn Sachs.

Sunshine represented disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, 65, in 2015, when he was accused of groping model Ambra Battilana Gutierrez, 24.
He also represented singer Justin Timberlake, 36, during the fury which followed Janet Jackson’s breast-baring “wardrobe malfunction” at the Super Bowl XXXVIII performance in 2004.
But it is now reps for Prince Harry at Kensington Palace who effectively look after Meghan on a day to day basis.
