I’m A Celebrity’s Amir Khan baffled viewers when he asks if there’s ever been a female Prime Minister
Stanley Johnson was elected as Prime Minister of the camp today and asked if a woman could take his place
I’m A Celebrity’s Amir Khan left viewers baffled tonight when he asked if a woman could be Prime Minister.
Stanley Johnson was elected as the camp’s Prime Minister in tonight’s show and Amir made the awkward gaffe when he asked if a woman could take his place.
The Olympic boxer said: “Can I ask one question Prime Minister? If God forbid something happens to you, is it possible a woman could take over?”
Stanley replied: “Well a woman would take over because my deputy is a woman,” referring to Georgia Toffolo.
Amir interrupted and said: “What I’m trying to say is that when your guys time is up, can a woman become Prime Minister?”
“Toff would succeed me,” Stanley answered.

Looking confused, Amir asked: “Has there ever been a woman Prime Minister?”
Jennie McAlpine exclaimed: “Are you joking?”
The others reminded him of Margaret Thatcher and that Theresa May is currently the Prime Minister.
He said: “Oh OK, don’t tell anyone that I didn’t know that,” as the others started laughing.
Viewers at home had a mixed reaction to the blunder with some finding it hilarious while others thought it was offensive.
Earlier in the night, there was a hilarious moment in camp when Labour politician Kezia Dugdale couldn’t resist making a gentle dig when announcing Stanley was now PM.
Referring to the persistent reports that Boris is keen to oust PM Theresa May, she joked: “You’ve been trying so hard as a family and you’ve done it.”
Stanley began his tenure with a humble comment, saying: “Thank you very much public.”
He followed that up by adding: “My administration will probably be very short, very feeble but we’ll do our best.”
And making reference to the current Labour slogan, the droll septuagenarian added: “Obviously as PM, I’m for all the creek, not just the few.”
Rebekah Vardy soon remarked that he was “born for the role” – but she may not have been so happy when he and reality star Toff, who is an aspiring Tory politician, started assigning roles for the camp.
They decided to allocate Jennie and Becky as camp cooks, Vanessa and Jamie to washing up, Dennis, Kez and Amir as camp maintenance and Iain and Shappi as the camp cleaners.
New cleaner Shappi was not pleased with their choice, and told the Bush Telegraph: “They seemed so nice, so cuddly but they immediately pointed the outgoing leaders the dunny cleaning.”
