Amir Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom breaks silence on their brief split and how ‘proud’ she is of him on I’m A Celeb
AMIR Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom has broken her silence on the boxer’s current stint on I’m A Celeb – and given reassurance that their internet spat is far behind them.
The 26-year-old beauty previously accused Amir of cheating in a furious social media row – which was brought up in the camp today, during a chat about women going through men’s phones.
Now Brooklyn-born Faryal, who often showcases her striking appearance on Instagram, sent explicit words of support to Amir, who she thinks is currently “winning” the show alongside Georgia “Toff” Toffolo.
But she did admit that the athlete is terrified of spiders and calls her up when he spots one at home.
Talking at the opening of Luton restaurant Marhaba, she said of her husband: “He’s a good, good guy and I’m glad he’s on TV so people can see the real side of him.
“Sometimes people judge you without knowing you.”
Questioned about her social media war with Amir, she went on: “We all do stupid things in life. I think people read things and you don’t mean it like that.”
Previously Faryal, who is pregnant with her and Amir’s second child, posted a tweet making fun of him for screaming during a Bushtucker Trial – and now she’s confirmed just how jumpy he is in real life.
She revealed: “Even in the house if there’s a spider in the window, we call each other.
“He’s very strong in boxing but not when it comes to insects. He is really scared of spiders so I hope he does a good job. I hope people see what a good guy he is.”
Reflecting on his chances of winning, she added: “Amir seems really depressed and quiet but I think he’s liked.
“I’m proud of him. I can’t speak to him and I have no way of contacting him but I hope he’s OK.”
Faryal’s warm comments are a world away from the online spat which kicked off between them in August.
Explosive tweets from Amir’s Twitter account claimed he has split from wife and accused her of cheating on him with Anthony Joshua.
However, Faryal later claimed that both of their accounts had been hacked – only for Amir to confirm their break-up in a Snapchat video, prompting a “disgusted” response from his wife.
The initial tweet on the boxer’s account read: “So me and the wife Faryal have agreed to split. I’m currently in Dubai. Wish her all the best.”
After wishing his wife well, the tweets went on to make sensational claims she had moved on with fellow boxer Anthony.
He was tagged in a tweet that read: “Faryal moved on quick. Always mentioned to me how much she wanted to be with another guy, from all people another boxer.
“Lol moved up in the weight classes lol. Trust me I ain’t the jealous type. No need to send me pictures of the men your talking to [sic]… Mans like Joshua can have my left overs!”
“I’m not sure if it’s your family tweeting for you. But I’m not the one who has been in the papers for cheating.”
His post prompted a furious reply from his wife, again using the Snapchat app.
Soon after that, it was confirmed that Faryal tried to make up with the boxer in a late-night crisis call for the sake of their daughter.
She apologised to her in-laws for the bitter war of words, however Khan tweeted hours later that they were on good terms but not getting back together.
Amir’s fellow boxer Tyson Fury, who is famously outspoken, said he felt the entire row was “total bullsh**” while a model who had sex with Amir said she warned his wife about his antics.
Faryal was said to be appalled that Amir had appeared to “move on” quickly with model Gulbahor Becknazar.
He was also photographed in London with a mystery woman holding a rose.
To complicate things even further, Faryal claimed she planned to raise their second baby alone following the breakdown of their marriage.
However, it seems that things weren’t too complicated to fix – as Amir revealed he is back with pregnant wife Faryal Makhdoom by posting a cute snap of the pair cuddling up together.
Soon after he was confirmed for the ITV jungle and is now one of the favourites to win – and he’s entered into a bromance with fellow contestant Stanley Johnson, 77.
Meanwhile Amir’s fellow boxer Ricky Hatton has urged him to return to boxing as soon as possible as he fears it may soon be too late for a comeback.
