JACK Maynard’s exit from I’m A Celebrity caused a major row among fans last night as they argued over whether his departure was justified.
The YouTube star quit the show after The Sun revealed he posted a number of racist and homophobic tweets before entering the jungle.
During last night’s episode, Ant and Dec stunned viewers by confirming Jack, 22, had left the camp but ITV did not show any reaction from his co-stars.
His management later revealed the YouTuber was stepping down so he would be able to defend himself as the storm over the tweets continues to rage.
After the shock announcement, fans took to Twitter to row over whether Jack was right to leave.
One tweeted: “I’m not saying that what Jack did was acceptable,however that was years ago and people do make mistakes and do things they regret.
“Everybody deserves a second chance and axing him from the show is completely unfair.”
A second echoed their thoughts and replied: “I’m so sad for Jack, those tweets were from years ago, and I believe an apology should’ve been enough.”
Others believed ITV’s decision was correct and told their followers Jack’s example should serve as a warning.
A fan commented: “Let it be a warning to people what they tweet today as it can be dragged up in five year’s time.”
Another said: “I’m glad @Jack_Maynard23 has been booted from the jungle. He shouldn’t have said anything racist in the first place. Actions have consequences!!!”
In one of Jacks’ controversial messages, posted online in June 2011, the star wrote he was “At alices with my n****s!” He also repeatedly calls people “retards”.

In another post he tweeted pics of people with deformities with comments “in his prime” and “Ahahahaha! Sooo funny!” On one image of a black man with bulging eyes he added: “looking greatttt!!”
The full statement from Jack’s management read: “In the last few days Jack has been the subject of a succession of media stories which, given his position as a contestant on ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’ – filmed in the Australian jungle, with no contact with the outside world, he has been unable to respond to.
“Since it is only fair that everyone should be aware of any allegations made against them and should also have the right to defend themselves, it was agreed that it would be better to bring him out of the show.
“Jack agrees with this decision which was made by his representatives and ITV and thanks everyone who has supported him in the show this far.”
