I’m A Celeb’s Iain Lee reveals he uses medication and meditation to battle depression

COMIC and radio host Iain Lee has revealed he is managing his depression with medication and meditation.

The TalkRADIO presenter, 44, opened up about his battle with mental illness two years ago, but now feels stable enough to take part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

The star, who is a late entry to the jungle, said: “I’m in quite a good, stable space at the moment so I’m not worried about going in and feeling suicidal. When I’ve been asked a couple of times before I haven’t felt well enough. I wouldn’t do it if I felt wobbly.”

“They psych test you with a really quite intense conversation with the psychiatrist and I was very open and honest about my depression.”

The former 11 O’Clock Show host revealed he was well-equipped to deal with low points in the jungle.

He said: “I take loads of medication. I’m on some really strong pills. I take anti-depressants and I meditate. Meditation is going to be the key.”

Dad-of-two Iain has explained his U-Turn on doing the ITV show is down to cash, after saying he’d only take part if he was “desperate” in 2005.

He said: “A really big pay cheque at this precise moment in my life would be really handy.

“I’ve just got kids aged seven and five and they eat money. It’s just to try and make their life a little bit easier and a little bit nicer. I’m doing alright.

“I saved a few quid from back in the day, but it would just be nice to have a little bit more money and a nice Christmas for the kids. But yes, I’m definitely more desperate than I was back in 2005.”
