Rebekah Vardy’s pals lay into I’m A Celeb bosses for listing her job as ‘Footballer’s Wife’ on show promo
REBEKAH Vardy's pals have slammed I'm A Celebrity bosses for listing her occupation as a 'footballer's wife' on a show promo.
The star's friends and family - who are looking after her social media account while she's in the jungle - insisted the star is a "full time mum" in an Instagram posted today.
A snap of Rebekah in her jungle gear was captioned: "Becky's 'Occupation’ is a Full time Mum 🙄.
"A woman isn’t defined by her husband’s job #eyeroll."
Fans of the 35-year-old agreed, with one writing: "Ooh she will go mad at that statement. Footballers wife", while another added: "That's so annoying!!! who writes these things?! Good luck in there xx".
However others pointed out Rebekah came into the spotlight because of her husband Jamie's achievements with Leicester City.
One wrote: "She is in the public eye as a footballers wife though, she wouldn't be on this as a full time Mum."
But the star's relative replied again: "but 'Occupation' means job. Her job isn't a footballer's wife. It is what she is known for but it isn't a job."
Indeed Rebekah has taken issue with the 'WAG' title in the past, telling the Daily Star in June last year: "A lot of these wives and girlfriends have got so much more to give and have careers of their own.
“A lot of my friends are really intelligent and I don’t think they get the credit they deserve.
"Many are also working mums. They are not arm candy and not just a wife or girlfriend of a footballer."
Rebekah previously revealed how her children were the ones to convince her to enter the jungle.
She said “It’s not the kind of thing you say ‘yes’ to straight away.
“I had to think for a while. I spoke to my kids and my eldest, Meghan, said: 'OMG mum you have to do it. I love that show and I really want you to do it.
"I will be so proud of you and if you don’t do it, I won’t speak to you again.’
"Then when they found out they could come to Australia with me, they were so excited.”
I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here starts tomorrow night at 9pm in ITV
