Noel Gallagher says Oasis won’t ever reform due to trolls attacking his family online
NOEL Gallagher has insisted Oasis will never reform after trolls attacked his family online.
The 50-year-old has said for years that the popular 90s band will never get back together, after years of feuding with his brother Liam.
But during a chat with BBC Radio 4's Stig Abell, Noel said his reasons have changed in recent times.
He said: "I think probably the nation as a whole, particularly the media would love me to get a Twitter account.
"Social media is exhausting and it shines a light on things that I find quite distasteful.
"My wife is on social media and my kids are on social media, and people come after them on social media and it's not very nice, it is ugly."
Noel went on to explain how some of the things his wife Sara MacDonald had shown him which had been sent to her by trolls were "disgraceful".
He continued: "My daughter has shown me things that people have written about her in regards to Oasis...that's disgraceful and it only heightens my resolve that I will never walk the stage with that band again, for that reason.
"There are many reasons, loads of reasons, it used to be professional reasons like 'I don't want to do it, I did it, why taint the legacy?'
"But now it's personal you know, people are coming after my family and one particular person has legitimised it and for that reason you've seen the last of Oasis."
The band formed in 1991 and released their debut album, Definitely, Maybe, in 1994.
After dominating the charts, Noel announced he was leaving the band in 2009 after his relationship with Liam deteriorated to its lowest point.
The band continued on without him under the name Beady Eye until they broke up in 2014.
Meanwhile Noel formed his solo project, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds to much critical acclaim.
