THEY’RE used to red carpets, posh meals and designer clobber.
But this year's stars of I’m A Celebrity are preparing to swap their privileged lifestyles for jungle camp.
Why do the I'm A Celebrity contestants have to wear red socks?
The likes of Sair Khan, Rita Simons, Fleur East and Emily Atack have ditched their glamorous attire for black T-shirts, khaki jackets and bright red socks.
But it turns out the scarlet socks are an important part of their Down Under look – and it’s not to brighten up the otherwise drab outfit.
Bob McCarron, the show’s on-site medic, told the cast are given red socks to wear so the blood from insect bites doesn’t show up on camera.
Bob, who is on hand seven days a week when the programme airs, is tasked with ensuring the show’s hundreds of thousands of cockroaches and crickets, millions of meal worms, plus spiders, rats and snakes don’t cause the contestants any harm.
