Boris Johnson’s dad Stanley hasn’t told the Foreign Secretary he’s a contestant on I’m A Celebrity
BORIS Johnson’s father Stanley was yesterday revealed as an I’m A Celebrity contestant — and admitted he had not told his son.
The writer, at 77 the oldest to enter the Jungle, then hinted the Foreign Secretary is so out of touch with TV shows that he is unlikely to notice him.
He said: “I don’t think Boris knows. We were told strictly not to tell anybody. I haven’t told anyone and I stick by the rules, I can tell you.
“I very much doubt he will ever hear about it.
“Don’t tell me he’s going to hear about it, it’s very unlikely. Knowing Boris he may never find out.”
Stanley, a former Conservative MEP turned novelist, arrived in Brisbane, Australia, after spending three weeks in New Zealand.
Asked about 53-year-old Boris’s latest blooper — over Brit Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe being held in Iran — he insisted: “I’ve been out of touch for three weeks.
“It’s a total mystery to me what’s happening in the UK. It’s all news to me.”
Dad-of-six Stanley, who is also an environmentalist, said he signed up to the ITV show because he wanted the wilderness experience.
He added: “Just the idea to get away from everything sounds great. It’ll be easy-peasy.
“I’m very scared of bears, but I think the trials will be all good.
“Who are the other campmates? That’s the question. I’m excited, It’ll be fun. I want to win the show.”
Also arriving yesterday were Corrie star Jennie McAlpine and comedian Shappi Khorsandi. Divorced mum-of-two Shappi, who recently revealed she was bisexual, said she was open to a Jungle relationship. She joked: “My ideal man in there would be one who has snuck a phone in.”
Other stars in the ten-strong line-up are ex-footballer Dennis Wise, boxer Amir Khan, former Hollyoaks actor and favourite to win Jamie Lomas, Saturdays singer Vanessa White, Made in Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo, YouTube sensation Jack Maynard and footie Wag Rebekah Vardy.
The show kicks off on Sunday, two weeks later than usual to allow presenter Ant McPartlin, 41, extra time to recover from a prescription drug addiction.
Boxing for glory
LOVE rat Khan, 30, has taken his £1.6million house in Bolton off the market hours after reconciling with 26-year-old wife Faryal Makhdoom.
During a public break-up Faryal, expecting their second child, had branded him a “cheater” while he claimed she was a “gold digger”.
But they posted a lovey-dovey snap together on a sofa to celebrate patching up their marriage.
