WHAT can't you miss on TV tonight? Our guide to the must-see shows...
The A Word, 9pm, BBC One
There are new beginnings for Joe (Max Vento, right) as he moves to a primary school in Manchester with a specialist base, and for Ralph, who’s given a job at the brewery by Maurice (Christopher Eccleston, left) – despite being told by his mum Louise not to take it.
It’s the adults, though, who are finding life tougher.
Nicola is still trying to prise her pompous adulterous dad out of the home and Paul is worrying about his shifting relationship with Joe as his son moves further away. Maurice, meanwhile, is even more confused by Louise’s see-sawing feelings.
In the hands of writer Peter Bowker and director Sue Tully, there are so many deft emotional moments, not least when a hand is gently laid on top of another on a hospital bed, or when Joe has a moment of triumph in his new school.
LIVE! International Football England v Brazil, 7.30pm, ITV
Not only are Brazil still the team everyone in the world wants to play against, but this tie also throws up some superstar match-ups.
The likes of Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and David Luiz taking on Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford (above) and Dele Alli is an interesting prospect, even if some England friendlies are, to put it mildly, a disappointing spectacle.
Masterchef: The Professionals, 8pm, BBC Two
Monica Galetti (above) sets tonight’s skills test, and it’s not one we cook every day: cod’s cheeks.
It should, however, be a breeze for the professionals, shouldn’t it?
The real chance to shine, though, comes with the signature dish, and while an hour and 15 minutes may seem like a long time, it’s gone quickly – just like the three who are eliminated tonight.
The Secret Life of Four Year Olds, 8pm, Channel 4
Even when you’re only just out of nappies, relationships are hard.
In another delightful episode, focusing on friendships in the nursery, Harper (above) asks Ava to be his girlfriend, even though he isn’t sure of her name.
But when his best friend Vinnie also asks a girl out, jealousy rears its head and the pair end up fighting. Love hurts, kids.
