NEW! The Boy With The Topknot, 9pm, BBC Two
Secrets, lies and the complex relationships within families are explored in this beautiful adaptation of British journalist Sathnam Sanghera’s memoir.
Sacha Dhawan (left) does a sterling job of playing Sathnam, a man living a double life.
In London, he has a high-flying career writing for The Times and is about to buy a house with his girlfriend Laura (Joanna Vanderham, right), but when he visits his Sikh family in Wolverhampton, he can’t tell them he’s in love with a white woman.
After discovering his dad has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and he was the only one who didn’t know, Sathnam’s life unravels and soon everything is on the line.
Boasting gloriously naturalistic performances, emotional scenes and its fair share of funny moments too, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll relate.
NEW! Children In Need Rocks The 80s, 8.30pm, BBC One
Children In Need was first broadcast in 1980, so to celebrate that decade, Fearne Cotton (right) and Sara Cox (left) host the biggest names from the era (A-ha, Bananarama and Boy George, to name
a few) for a concert at Wembley’s SSE Arena.
We’re not sure why 2015 X Factor champ Louisa Johnson (born in 1998) is on the bill, but we’ll let that one slide.
NEW! Gone To Pot: American Road Trip, 9pm, ITV
Take five celebs – Pam St Clement (above), John Fashanu, Christopher Biggins, Bobby George and Linda Robson – put them on a psychedelic bus tour of the US to smoke and eat cannabis, and you’ve pretty much got the measure of this show.
But the funny drug-induced scenes are peppered with more serious debate about legalising marijuana.
Nigella: At My Table, 8.30pm, BBC Two
As appetising as they can appear, sometimes watching cookery shows can be a bit dull unless you’re a major foodie.
That’s never the case with Nigella (above), though.
Thanks to her dry wit and unapologetic love of all things camp, this series is as hilarious as it is helpful.
Oh, and tonight’s herbed leg of lamb and chocolate olive oil mousse look to die for.
