GBBO winner Sophie Faldo reveals she flagged up THAT tweet to bosses and insists she doesn’t hold a grudge after Prue Leith revealed her as winner 12 hours before the final

The baking champ spotted the 'clanger' within 42 seconds of it appearing on Twitter

GREAT British Bake Off winner Sophie Faldo has revealed that SHE was the person who spotted Prue Leith "clanger" of a tweet, which announced her victory before the final had aired.

GBBO judge Prue made the blunder 12 hours before Sophie was seen on screen taking the baking crown, telling her followers: "Bravo Sophie."

And it was 33-year-old Sophie who alerted show bosses to the slip-up.

Speaking to OK! magazine about the mishap, Sophie said: "I spotted it on my news feed when it had been up for 42 seconds!

"I knew straight away a clanger had been dropped.

"It was actually me who rang Prue's assistant and I passed it onto Love Productions [GBBO's production company].

"I wanted to do as much damage limitation as I could."

She added: "It didn't make any difference to me, but I suspect there are a lot of viewers that were a bit disappointed it was spoilt.

"I know how absolutely devastated Prue was."

Prue, 77, was in India when she made the blunder and blamed confusion over the six-hour time difference.

Her full tweet read: "No one told me judging a #gbbo final would be so emotional.

"I wanted them all to win. Bravo Sophie."

After being alerted to her mistake, Prue wrote another saying: “I am so sorry to the fans of the show for my mistake this morning. I am in a different time zone and mortified by my error.”

Disappointed viewers later watched Sophie win the coveted prize in what should have been a thrilling climax to the pre-recorded series.
