ASDA will beat its rivals to the punch with a Christmas telly ad 50 days before the big day.
The commercial shown tomorrow is the first in a series about an imaginary workshop where the supermarket’s Christmas products are made.
In it, a young girl and her grandad sneak into a factory to discover the Imaginarium, where reindeers power a food mixer to make Christmas puddings and tiny people assemble canapes.
The ad, twice as long as normal at 60 seconds, will first be shown during The X Factor on ITV1.
It will be followed by four 30-second episodes.
Asda chief customer officer Andy Murray said: “The Imaginarium is the perfect showcase for the excitement and ethos behind our products.”
Argos was the first high street store with a Christmas TV ad, during Emmerdale last night.
