90s pop star Kavana announces he’s in rehab battling alcohol addiction
The singer has previously talked candidly about his issues with drink and drugs
POP star Kavana has reportedly entered rehab to confront an alcohol addiction.
The 39-year-old singer and reality star, real name Anthony Kavanagh, is believed to have checked himself into a three month treatment programme.
According to the , Kavana took to his official Facebook page on Monday to reveal the news to his fans and followers.
The Northern star, famed for a string of hits in the late 90s, wrote: “Friends... I entered rehab yesterday for three months.
"I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately and wanted to let you know I’m doing good and have settled in.
“As some of you know I’ve struggled on and off with alcohol for a long time but am finally ready to give this my best shot.
He told the glossy: "It was really weird - I was 'indulging' again and I remember her calling me and telling me to sort myself out when she was going through it herself."
The Back To Black hit-maker herself died from alcohol poisoning in July 2011.
Kavana's solo career burned out after 1999's Will You Wait For Me, however, he'd already made a move to America where he starred in a number of commercials and an MTV show before setting up as songwriter with a publishing deal.
In 2014 he starred in ITV2's The Big Reunion, where he was placed in supergroup 5th Story, and the following year he starred in Celebrity Big Brother.
