MICHELLE Keegan and Luke Pasqualino sent temperatures rising as they stripped off for a steamy romp in the season finale of Our Girl last night.

The 30-year-old actress and her co-star, 27, were shown partaking in a saucy bedroom scene as their characters Corporal Georgie Lane and her ex-fiance Elvis Harte rekindled their romance.

Fans of the soldiering drama will remember that Elvis left Georgie at the altar at the end of series two.

And, with sparks flying between them in previous episodes it really was only a matter of time till they got together, with the finale's dramatic terrorist hunt making sure they were pushed together.

Michelle stripped off down to her underwear for the steamy scenes, which saw Luke and her engage in a passionate on-screen romp.

It appeared that the two characters were about to get a happy ever after, as Elvis later proposed to Georgie.

However, things took a seriously dramatic and heartbreaking twist, as the mission in Afghanistan turned sour.

Making a daring raid in Kabul a bomb went off on top off a building, blowing Elvis off the roof to his death.

Cradling his body in her arms, Georgie was wracked with grief as her love died.

As fans struggle to come to terms with the character's shocking death, the series' creator Tony Grounds has opened up about why he and the writing team chose to kill off Elvis.

Speaking to , he said it was down to "a combination of factors", with Luke's own schedule playing a part in his character's demise.

Tony explained: "Firstly in terms of honouring that story – it felt like their relationship was brilliant and toxic at the same time and it was a great dramatic way to go with it.

"Being in the forces, he’s quite close to death all the time so that was the one thing that stuck in my mind. And then [Luke Pasqualino] had signed a contract to do another show which tied him up for five years with Snatch. So we had no choice.

“We could have sent [Elvis] to prison or on holiday or just not seen him for five years but that seemed a bit daft so we thought let’s take this brave way – and he dies on the battlefield in Georgie Lane’s arms."

Tony added that he and the team were "forced" into that way of thinking, though he wasn't afraid to admit he'd have loved it if  Elvis had lived forever.
