Sheridan Smith is a woman of many skills and this one-off special showcasing her immense talent is perfect Sunday-night viewing.
It all kicks off with a rousing rendition of Don’t Rain On My Parade – and that’s just the first of several musical interludes, in-between chats with host Alexander Armstrong about her life and career.
As she’s a star of TV, film and stage, there’s plenty to talk about – including an amusing anecdote about missing an appearance on This Morning early in her career – and Sheridan doesn’t shy away from her personal life either.
She explains what she’d like in an ideal man and opens up about her dad, Colin, who was clearly a huge influence on her love of performing and who sadly died last year.
What endears so many to Sheridan is evident throughout – her modesty, despite enormous success over so many different platforms.
Calling the whole experience “surreal”, she seems to be completely overwhelmed by all the attention, but we know the praise is well-deserved.

The stunning series continues with a journey to the deep ocean.
The largest living space on Earth, it’s barely been explored due to brutally cold weather conditions and utter darkness.
Prepare to be baffled yet amazed at the sight of underwater coral gardens, fish that walk and the Mariana Trench – almost 11km from the surface. Groundbreaking, spectacular and absorbing.

It’s a hectic morning for divorced mum-of-two Jo (Indira Varma, right) – right up to the moment when she gets an anonymous text suggesting something inappropriate happened between her boyfriend Danny (Luke Treadaway, left) and her 11-year-old daughter.
This drama explores all manner of soul-searching questions and makes for uncomfortable but gripping viewing.
